OFFICAL RULES/ Score sheet

Turkey must be harvested in the state of Alabama during the 2010 turkey season. Turkey must be harvested by legal means in accordance with ADNR regulations.

Turkey must be brought to either location whole with all body parts attached.

In the event of a multiple bearded or spured turkey only the main beard or spur (s) will be scored.

In the event of a tie the weight of the turkey will be the tie breaker.

No employee or family member of either sponsor is eligible to enter.

Only the winning Turkey will be mounted no substitutions will be accepted .

How to Score

Turkey will be scored by the following measurements:

All measurements are taken to the nearest 1/16 of an inch and converted to decimal form.

1. Weigh bird in pounds and ounces and convert to decimal.

2.  Measure each spur along the outside center, from the point at which the spur protrudes from the leg to the tip of the spur, and convert to decimal form. Add the two spur measurements and multiply combined length by 10 (ten). This is the number of points awarded for the spur length.

3.   Measure the beard from the center point of the protrusion to the tip of the longest strand and convert to decimal form. Multiply the beard length by 2 (two). If you have a bird with multiple beards, measure the longest main beard only, and multiply by 2 (two). This is the number of points awarded for beard length.  

4. Combine the points for beard and spur length. This is the total number of points awarded for the turkey.

EXAMPLE:

Beard*11 1/4" = 11.25 X 2 = 22.5

Spur*1 1/2 " =  1.5 

Spur*1 1/4"  =  1.25

Total Spur*      2.75 X 10 = 27.5
